Paris, Brexit

By Austin Collings

I appear to be re-enacting a cheap version of PARIS, TEXAS, a poor passing
fact, revisiting a place called loneliness, walking through wet grass for the
first time since I don't-know-when, summoning memories of love and
jealousy. My sad and morbid eyes attracted to a park bench that I’ll wipe
rain off and sit on and watch a dog jump up and down until it gets dark.
(What happened to it’s owner?) Should I kill myself here, with the dog
watching, the midges encircling and the rain starting to fall mistily again or
should I get up and continue walking, remembering that the habit of despair
can be broken in a flash like a struck match?
