The Undertones celebrate 40th anniversary

In celebration of The Undertones’ 40th Anniversary, the band has announced a 2016 vinyl remaster and digital release of two classic albums.

The LP’s, to be released on 7 October are remastered from the original tapes.

The first album to be remastered is the punk rock band’s first, self titled album which was released in 1979. The album included the iconic singles ‘Here Comes the Summer’ and ‘Teenage Kicks’. It was a simple album, based on four chord punk songs, but was executed with unmissable enthusiasm that brought a smile to peoples’ faces.

You can watch the music video for 'Teenage Kicks' here.

Next to be remastered is their second album ‘Hypnotised’, which was release the following year. This album reached number 6 in the UK Albums Chart and included songs such as ‘My Perfect Cousin’ and ‘Wednesday Week’.

The band had their ups and down, splitting in 1983 but reforming in 1999, however they continue to tour and perform at venues and festivals throughout the UK and Europe. They are now setting to embark on a 12 date 40th Anniversary UK tour this autumn.
