First Round of Acts Announced for Liverpool Music Week 2016
Liverpool Music Week 2016 is almost upon us and there are many great acts to look forward to. The much anticipated event will take place across various venues in Liverpool from 26 October – 5 November and includes headliners, Warpaint and the legendary, John Carpenter.
Now entering its 12th year, Liverpool Music Week is the UK’s largest indoor winter music festival and has previously played host to the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Deerhunter, Mogwai and ChVrches. The festival will be based around the Arts Club in Liverpool City Centre. This venue has a long history with live music performance and will act as the hub around which many exciting and interesting events will take place. There will also be a run of shows at the beautifully preserved and highly prestigious (Grade II listed) Grand Central Dome as well as a headliner performance from, John Carpenter at the Liverpool Olympia ballroom in which you will be able to hear him perform his film scores and original compositions as part of his first ever UK live headline tour.
Elsewhere, LA-based art rock quartet Warpaint will headline the 2016 Opening Night at the spectacular Liverpool Grand Central Dome on Wednesday 26th October bringing their hypnotic and focused live show to one of Liverpool’s grandest secret spaces.
Also announced are alt-rock legends, Dinosaur Jr, Cat’s Eyes - a duo formed of Italian-Canadian opera soprano and classical multi-instrumentalist, Rachel Zeffira and Faris Badwan, lead-singer from British psychedelic-rockers, The Horrors, Mercury Music Prize Album of the Year winning acoustic-electronica trio, GoGo Penguin and Liverpool locals, Clean Cut Kid. Last but not least, the Wirral’s She Drew The Gun join the bevy of local artists flying the flag for the region following their debut album, ‘Memories of The Future’ recently released on The Coral’s own label, Skeleton Key Records.
