Sleigh Bells announce mini-album 'Kid Kruschev'
Brooklyn-based noise pop duo Sleigh Bells have announce the release of their new mini-album, 'Kid Kruschev.'
Following the band’s last critically acclaimed album, 'Jessica Rabbit,' bandmates Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss found themselves more inspired than ever before. The album sees the pair embracing both the personal and world-scale anxiety of the moment. Krauss’s move out of Brooklyn to upstate New York gave the band a new place from which to work, while the American political climate gave them new topics to tackle.
Their notable sound of full throttle percussion and electrifying guitars make way for a new alternative approach, featuring synth bubbles, keys, and Krauss' outstanding vocals. The mini-album is a mixture of diverse songs. Curveball cut 'And Saints' is the first song to be shared from the collection, incorporating a dark, meditative tone throughout. Other tracks include a staple high-energy loud pop vibe, full of warm and inspiring melodies.
Miller says of the mini-album's conception: “Doesn't feel like the sky is falling, feels more like it fell. Maybe a long time ago and it's just more obvious now. Lots of friction and darkness as well as opposition to all that, which has been inspiring to see. Alexis moved north of Brooklyn recently, somewhere with trees and cliffs, providing us with a new space to write and record without pissing off neighbors, so that’s what we’ve been doing. We didn't want to wait another year or two to release something. We like the idea of putting out shorter records at a more consistent rate, so we're gonna give it a shot for a while, see how it feels.”
'Kid Kruschev' will be released on 10th November via Lucky Number.
