The Honeydrips release single, 'DCI Gates'
Swedish indie-pop's best-kept secret, The Honeydrips, returns to tackle the world’s electro scene with a brand new single, 'DCI Gates.'
The Honeydrips is the solo project of Mikael Carlsson, former lead singer of the band Dorotea. The Gothenburg native packs reverb soaked vocals into 'DCI Gates,' alongside an up- tempo drum beat, jingly guitar riffs, and an eerie fairground-esque bridge.
'DCI Gates' is picked from The Honeydrips' upcoming album, 'Give Each Other Some Solace.' The title of the track is inspired by the fictional DCI Gates, a corrupt police officer from the hit BBC TV series Line of Duty. Produced by Petter Utbult, the song evokes MTV’s Alternative Nation, as well as the indie clubs of Gothenburg and Sweden.
Carlsson said of the song: "I got the idea while listening to early 90s guitar pop and watching Line of Duty. The character DCI Gates really got to me. He’s an unlucky police officer who becomes a victim of his own corrupt actions. Once I got the idea, the song pretty much wrote itself."
'Give Each Other Some Solace' is released on 27th October via Gentle Reminder.
