The underground community unearthing Britain's derelict places
Humble bragging and pop ups aside, the internet isn't such a bad place. Especially when you can traverse a derelict swimming pool from the comfort of your couch.
Derelict Places is a forum of wonder for those looking to revisit the apparitions of Britain's cultural history. Documented by a community of amateur photographers channeling Gordie and co. from Stand By Me, the images investigate nostalgia, loss and history in a way that makes you feel 13 again.
In the eerie swimming pools, cinemas and bars of yesteryear you can almost hear the echoes of excited kids on waterslides, wave machine sirens and relaxed nervous systems conversing in cramped pubs. Whilst not intended as art pieces, the photos feel like they've been shot by Martin Parr - arriving on the scene 15 years later, wondering 'where are all the people?'
