The psychedelic illustration of Mati Klarwein

The psychedelic illustration of Mati Klarwein

Visionary Hamburg-born artist, Mati Klarwein is renowned for the far out psychedelic murals he created for artists including Santana, Hendrix and Miles Davis. His influence on contemporary sleeve design is undoubtable.

Taking in surrealism and afro-futurism, Klarwein's work was inspired by travel and an interest in the symbolism and deities of non-Western art and religion. Accompanying his psychedelic vistas are an array of landscape, portraiture and still life works. Read on as we flick through some of his best work.
