The Moonlandingz release new single 'The Strangle of Anna'
The Moonlandingz have released the second single from their forthcoming debut album, 'Interplanetary Class Classics' released 24 March.
‘The Strangle of Anna’ provides another seductive glimpse into The Moonlandingz’ deranged imaginations that find utterance through their transgressive sonic insanities.
The new single is the love ballad David Lynch and Andy Warhol never got to make and is performed by Johnny Rocket (aka Fat White Family’s, Lias Saoudi) and Slow Club’s, Rebecca Taylor. The video sees Johnny Rocket dressed in a cling film and fried eggs ensemble whilst crooning romantic overtures to the vampiric bride of Slow Club’s Rebecca Taylor.
For the setting of the video - imagine a Velvet Underground club night set in a working man’s club in hell – attended by the patients of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and the psyched-out casualties of Studio 54.
The Moonlandingz’ spiritual founder, Adrian Flanagan said: “Johnny Rocket went completely method for the video by staying awake for 5 days solid before the shoot. On arrival on set he said he wanted to have the hairstyle of all the South Yorkshire greats, yer know, AlexTurner, Richard Hawley and the king of the crooners, Mr Tony Christie – but he wanted to take that look to the next level, which obviously, was to wear 2 fried eggs upon his person.
“Even Michael Jackson never ventured in to the realms of fry ups as fashion accessories on a video shoot... I'm pretty certain it's gonna be the look of the summer!"
The Moonlandingz will be playing an 11 date headline UK tour starting in Newcastle on March 22nd and ending with their biggest headline show to date at Village Underground in London on April 4th. They will be joined on tour by their special guests, new Rough Trade signings, Goat Girl.
