Mac DeMarco shares video for 'This Old Dog'

Slacker rock favourite Mac DeMarco has released a self-directed music video for ‘This Old Dog,’ the second track taken from his upcoming third album.

Filmed in Los Angeles, the video follows actors clad in plastic dog masks as they wander through the city and soak up the sun. Sentimental lyrics accompanied by gentle, woozy acoustic guitar carry the canine companions along on their journey.

DeMarco has described the video rather poetically: “A devoted dog discovers the meaning of its own existence through the lives of the humans it teaches to laugh and love. Reincarnated as multiple canines over the course of five decades, the lovable pooch develops an unbreakable bond with a kindred spirit named Ethan. As the boy grows older and comes to a crossroad, the dog once again comes back into his life to remind him of his true self.”

Following this statement, it has emerged that DeMarco has in fact copied-and-pasted the plot summary for the controversial family flick, ‘A Dog’s Purpose,’ word for word into the press release.

An extended leg of European live dates has also been announced, with DeMarco set to play an additional night at London’s O2 Academy Brixton in support of the new album.

‘This Old Dog’ is released 5th May via Captured Tracks.
