Bob Marley & The Wailers' 'Exodus' remastered
Island Records and the Marley Estate have announced the release of a special 40th anniversary multi-format edition of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ classic album Exodus.
In honour of the album’s anniversary, musician Ziggy Marley has revisited his father’s original studio recordings to uncover unheard vocal takes and instrumentation from Exodus. These findings have been transformed by Ziggy into brand new session takes; adding modern twists to classic Bob Marley songs that have since become staples of the reggae genre.
Exodus 40 includes a new version of Marley’s hit One Love, featuring a new lead vocal comprised of ten uncovered lead vocal outtakes and vocal booth adlibs. Turn Your Lights Down Low has also been reworked, with Ziggy and a host of other musicians creating a new music bed for the track that shifts the song towards the deeper elements of R&B. Further songs on the reissue have also received this musical revitalisation.
The re-mastered ‘Exodus’ album and ‘Exodus 40’ will be released in June via Universal Music.
