The Drums release video for 'Blood Under My Belt'

This year marks an evolutionary period for The Drums, as the band's frontman Jonny Pierce takes sole control. Announcing the release of upcoming fourth album ‘Abysmal Thoughts’ earlier this year, Pierce revealed the departure of fellow founding member Jacob Graham.

A colourful music video for the first single of this new dawn, ‘Blood Under My Belt,’ is reminiscent of early work from The Drums; shimmering with sunny, melodic guitar riffs as Pierce sings of heartbreak and deeply rooted sadness.

Pierce said of the new video: "I hate making music videos. But, alas, sometimes you need to feed the beast, and I decided to make a music video that explores some visual fetishes of mine - mainly sportswear and a new exploration of colors that I've long-loved but hadn't been a part of the band's aesthetic until now. I love this new era of The Drums because I'm allowed to express exactly what I want and take it all the way."

The Drums will embark on a short run of UK live dates in October in support of the album.

‘Abysmal Thoughts’ is released 16th June via Anti-.
