Billy Childish presents 'all of gods dark places'

Following Monday's interview and yesterday's new painting, Billy continues his takeover of Coney's Loft by presenting two new woodcuts.

Both were first made for a one poem letterpress book 'all of gods dark places' printed and hand bound by Tangerine Press. The woodcuts were pressed directly onto the pages of the book and extra copies were made in case of mistakes.. These extras are now available as small editions of 10. They will be shown first at Cultural Traffic, a print and publishing fair in New York on the L-13 stand, before being listed on the L-13 website.

'all of gods dark places' By Billy Childish.

so many paintings of myself
that
i cant count them

paintings with
bottle in hand
paintings with
cock in hand
paintings with my face sometimes laughing or

with sad shadows
spreading like clawed hands from my throat and
bones on the outside
that should be on the inside

but
always glorifying weather stood
naked
cast out and afraid
or
astride mountains shivering like a tiny god

also
i paint the mountains which of course are myself because what is not myself?

the world of clouds is mine
the world of silver barked trees is mine not yours
but mine
so i push you away

you are welcome
but i still push you away

making
paintings
of my son
of my daughter
of my wife
kneeling to them giving myself to them glorifying them
and
all my deeds included loving
proud
selfish
clasping
foolish
cowedly

and
this poem
glorifying myself
and
not liking not being glorified
so if a woman doesn’t
glorify me i do not desire her
and
instead turn my shoulder
but
that
does not mean i do not glorify her because
what choice is there but to glorify?

and
colour is mine
ochre
umber
colbolt
soot black
and
the world of caves
all of gods dark places

i
pick up the brush and glorify

myself all
