MONEY's Charlie Coxedge shares solo album
Charlie Coxedge, guitarist and founding member of Manchester-based band MONEY, has announced the release of his debut album of solo work.
Entitled Cloisters, the album sees Coxedge expand on the guitar work he has contributed to MONEY and delve into intricate instrumental compositions. Delicately textured loops of guitar are balanced with ambient synthesisers and soft piano across six new tracks. The album's title track has been released as a first single.
Coxedge has drawn inspiration from childhood homes, city walks, and past memories when crafting Cloisters. The atmosphere of such places is invoked throughout the album; each piece of layered instrumentation echoing the thoughts that often occur when faced with solitude.
Coxedge said of his solo work: "I’ve always been a bit of a collector of effects pedals, and have used them subtly within MONEY to enhance our sound, both on record and live – making loops, drones etc – but with this solo work I really get to expand on that, and a lot of the music comes from playing around with different sounds."
‘Cloisters’ is released 26th May via Bella Union.
