Preview: Edinburgh Film Festival 2017

The full programme for this June’s 70th Anniversary Edinburgh Film Festival has been announced. Over 150 films are due to be shown with 69 UK Premieres, nine European Premieres and 17 World Premieres.

The opening gala will see the UK premiere of Sundance sensation God’s Own Country and the festival will close with the much-anticipated Morrissey biopic, England is Mine. Among the other highlights are the early UK premieres of Pixar’s latest: Cars 3,  and Boon Jong-Ho’s fantasy-thriller, Okja.

There’s also Terrence Malick’s Song to Song which has toured festivals around the world and stars a host of A-listers from Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman to Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling.

Kyra Sedgwick’s directorial debut Story of a Girl debuts and the director herself will appear at the festival along with the film’s star Kevin Bacon.

A myriad of other guests will also attend the festival such as Stanley Tucci (director of Final Portrait), Richard E. Grant, Oliver Stone, Juliet Stevenson, Jessica Brown Findlay and Mark Gill.

Edinburgh Film Festival 2017 will run between 21 June - 2 July. Ticket sales open on 2nd June.
