Enter the Ragged Kingdom
We recently reported that Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli visited The Florrie with his team to check out Jamie Reid’s exhibition, ‘Casting Seeds’. The Roman powerhouse, making some of the best luxury ready-to-wear today, has collaborated with Reid on its AW17 menswear collection. And mighty good it is too, hitting shops toward the end of summer.
But, given the nasty bastard political rot of Britain, 2017, perhaps it’s not surprising that Reid is back with his own more urgent (and accessibly priced) collection, titled Ragged Kingdom. The radical artist’s slogans should be plastered over everything that stands still long enough – things need a bit of visual rousing.
Writing on his website, Reid says:
“We just launched a clothing line called Ragged Kingdom, with Derek Dunbar who was part of the scene way back when... it's good and simple right now – t-shirts, bags, sweats etc but we have plans! Other texts include Up They Rise, A Brick Will Do The Trick and Ours Is The 21st Century.”
Available now through Dover Street Market, London, Ginza and New York, and 10 Corso Como Seoul and Milan, don’t expect them to decorate the shelves for long.
