British Music Experience announce 'In Conversation With' summer series
A line-up of music industry experts will share their wisdom at a series of talks throughout the summer, hosted by The British Music Experience in Liverpool. Highlights include appearances by Yousef, Norman Jay MBE, Kevin Cummins, and daughter of the legendary Poly Styrene, Celeste Bell.
The ‘In Conversation With...’ series kicks off on Thursday 20 July with renowned DJs Yousef and Norman Jay MBE. Instrumental in the development of the warehouse scene, Jay boasts a rich career that has seen him champion multiple genres and the obscure ‘rare groove.’ Yousef will also share his musical memories to mark fifteen years of Circus, the much loved club night he founded in 2002.
Music photographer Kevin Cummins will take the reins on 27th July to present some of his most famous images and reveal the stories behind them. Cummins, former chief photographer at NME, has produced memorable photographs of acts including David Bowie, Joy Division, Blur, and Mick Jagger.
A special event celebrating the life of legendary X-Ray Spex frontwoman Poly Styrene will also take place on 1st August. Hosted by John Robb, the talk will see rock biographer Zoe Howe and Styrene’s daughter, Celeste Bell, present two new works examining the life of one of Britain’s greatest punk icons. A film, ‘Poly Styrene: I Am A Cliche’ and book, ‘Dayglo: The Creative Life of Poly Styrene’ will be released in 2018.
Tickets for each event are available online via The British Music Experience website and can also be purchased directly from The British Music Experience box office.
