Bonny Doon announce release of self-titled debut album
Bonny Doon have announced the release of their self-titled debut album.
The album sees the Detroit-based band deliver chilled out rock with folk influences. Tracked on a reel-to-reel tape machine and pieced together across the city’s different practice spaces, the final outcome evokes the grandeur of Bill Callahan’s Smog and the poignancy of Neil Young’s Ditch Trilogy. I See You, the first track to be shared from the album, is an acoustic ballad peppered with country-style guitar licks and wistful lyrics.
Bonny Doon originally began life as a punk project, with all four members active in the Detroit punk scene. After writing lacklustre punk numbers, the band experimented with a more restrained sound. Playing as quietly as possible allowed them to finally unlock their current folk infused rock. The band is now a favourite on the live circuit in Detroit due to their intimate yet loose performing style.
The album is available digitally for UK listeners, with physical copies released in November.
Bonny Doon’s self titled album will be released on 3rd November via Melodic Records.
