Brix Smith and Mike Joyce to appear in series of talks
Selfridges Exchange has announced a series of talks with iconic figures in music as part of the ‘Music Matters at Selfridges’ national campaign. Special guests include Mike Joyce, Bernard Butler, Cerys Matthews, and Brix Smith Start.
Hosted by DJ and writer Dave Haslam, the events will also mark the 15th birthday of the Selfridges store. Guests will sit down with Haslam to discuss their life and influential careers in the music industry.
Mike Joyce is set to share the inside story of his time as drummer in The Smiths, while Cerys Matthews will discuss her career in band Catatonia and her previous problems with drug and alcohol misuse. The early days of Britpop will be recounted with ex-Suede member Bernard Butler, now a producer and prolific collaborator. Brix Smith Start will talk fashion and her time as a member of The Fall before treating the audience to a special acoustic performance of tracks from her new album.
‘Music Matters at Selfridges’ is a season of events, pop up performances, and product showcases celebrating the importance of music as an expression of cultural identity. Events will be held at Selfridges stores around the country, with a number of musical performances scheduled at the London Oxford Street store.
