Princess Nokia releases '1992' deluxe edition
Harlem-based rapper Princess Nokia (Destiny Frasqueri) has released her new album, '1992 Deluxe.'
This deluxe edition is an expanded and remastered version of last year’s breakout mixtape '1992', featuring eight brand new tracks from various artists.
The MC and New York native is not just a Calvin Klein model but a black feminist and D.I.Y. missionary. Described as a “nerdy girl with nymphomaniac tendencies”, she delivers on her potential as one of 2017’s most exciting new MC’s.
Including heavy beats and retro loops backed to the style of industrial emo-trap, Princess Nokia asserts her dominance throughout each individual track.
To coincide with the LP’s release, Princess Nokia has shared a music video for 'Flava.' Produced by Kadi Haze and directed by Destiny & long-time collaborator Milah Libin, the video is the 15th music video Princess Nokia has co directed since 2014 and the 7th since the release of the original '1992.'
Speaking about the inspiration for the video, Princess Nokia stated that she “wanted to make a cinematic short film, with a narration that foreshadows the intersectionality of self-esteem, self-love and cultural approbation of urban beauty in mainstream media. Aiming on the whole, to express and explore urban sisterhood through a personal and accurate lens.
Princess Nokia will play two UK live dates this November in support of '1992 Deluxe.'
'1992 Deluxe' is available now via Rough Trade.
