Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile announce collaborative album, 'Lotta Sea Lice'
Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile have announced details of their new album, ‘Lotta Sea Lice.’
The album is a unique creative collaboration between the two highly regarded songwriters and long-time friends. Combining their shared styles of candid lyricism, humour, and raw energy, the pair has produced a collection of songs that give the impression of a well established musical partnership.
‘Lotta Sea Lice’ also features contributions from Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa, Nick Cave collaborator Mick Harvey, and Jim White and Mick Thomas of the Dirty Three.
The first single from the album, ‘Over Everything,’ gives an insight into the intricate guitar work and conversational lyrics to be expected from the pair. An accompanying music video for the track sees Barnett and Vile swapping lines in stunning black and white shots of Victoria, Melbourne, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.
While the majority of ‘Lotta Sea Lice’ is comprised of all new original material, the album will also see Barnett and Vile cover one of the other’s songs. Vile puts his own spin on Barnett’s ‘Outta the Woodwork’ while Barnett tackles Vile track ‘Peepin’ Tomboy.’
The pair will embark on a sold out tour of the United States throughout October and November.
‘Lotta Sea Lice’ is released on 13th October via Marathon Artists.''
