Zola Jesus shares new single, 'Siphon'
Zola Jesus has shared a new track, ‘Siphon.’
‘Siphon’ is the third single to be taken from her highly anticipated sixth album, ‘Okovi.’ Romantic strings, powerful vocals, and layers of pulsating electronic sound combine to deliver an intensely emotive track.
Zola Jesus says of the song: "Initially, I was apprehensive about releasing 'Siphon' into the world. This song was not intended for public consumption. It was written for someone very close to me who had attempted suicide for the second time. In the weeks surrounding this tragedy, I desperately tried everything I could to convince them to stay alive. There is no greater horror than watching someone you love physically destroy themselves... not knowing if you would see them tomorrow. In the end, I decided this song needed to be heard, not only by this person, but by others as well."
Zola Jesus is the stage name of American singer-songwriter Nika Roza Danilova. Creating gothic inspired electropop for over a decade, Danilova’s return with ‘Okovi’ promises a dark meditation on loss, wisdom, and reconciliation.
Zola Jesus will tour the UK in support of ‘Okovi’ throughout November.
‘Okovi’ is released on 8th September via Sacred Bones Records.
