Seatbelts share new single and video 'Content Crush'

Seatbelts release their new single Content Crush. Taken from the band's forthcoming EP, Please Slow Down – the new single is an exploration of a new artistic direction. If this is anything to go by, we can all look forward to the journey and the destination. The lyrical content expands upon some of the themes James Madden and Ryan Murphy (Hooton Tennis Club) have previously touched upon:

“I've been thinking about escapism, the value of experiences, how people find hope in the face of disillusionment. We live in a rapidly changing, progressively 'weirder' world - and it affects people.” says Madden.

For the new single, Seatbelts have worked with Dead Hedge Trio’s brass and woodwind instrumentalist, Nick Branton. This collaboration helps to fuse together the elements of both art-pop and jazz - with Branton using a bass clarinet and cornet to create a feeling of warmth and romanticism, which pushes against Madden's vacillating guitar. This combination helps to create a lush instrumentation - culminating in fast, busy choruses and a lyrical poetry that reflects on a world abundant with instant-media.

At a time when cynicism is as natural as zero-hour contracts, and it seems our only solution is to dive back into our screens, Seatbelts have offered a gentle reminder: it's OK to switch off for a while!
