Lusts share new track 'heavy thoughts'
Lusts, the group consisting of brothers Andrew and James Stone, have announced their return with new single ‘heavy thoughts’, their first new music since the release of acclaimed debut record Illuminations - released in 2015 on 1965 Records.
Coming off a year spent writing inside their own home studio, the track is an early insight into what lies ahead and teases the possibility of a second record from the pair later in the year.
Guitarist and singer Andrew commented on the new track, which was partly inspired by J.G. Ballard's High Rise:
With lyrics partly inspired by J.G Ballard’s High Rise, Andrew speaks on the track:
“We always want to juxtapose ideas and themes — looking for a utopia in the darkness. We wanted to create a song that simultaneously revelled in destructiveness, whilst also critiquing it. The book really shocked me growing up, and continues to do so. This track is about pushing us to explore parts of ourselves and the people around us.”
The announcement comes with tour news, Lusts first outing since the shows played at the tail end of their first album campaign, which included showcases at SXSW, The Great Escape and more. The upcoming dates are as follows:
10th Bristol - The Louisiana
12th London - Sebright Arms
13th Leicester - The Cookie
14th Manchester - Night & Day
16th Birmingham - Hare & Hounds II
18th Brighton - Prince Albert
